    Seoul Design Award 2024, application extended until June 28th

     

    The Seoul Design Award 2024 submission deadline has been extended until June 28th!

    Existing works can also be supported, so if you are a practicing designer for a sustainable future, please join us. 

     

    Winners will also be given a huge amount of prize money. A total of 144 million Korean Won worth of prize money will be awarded, including the grand prize of 50 million won and the second place prize of 15 million won. We are waiting for the design projects contributing to creating a better tomorrow by considering harmony between people, society, and the environment. So we ask for your interest and participation.

    Application period and cost

    Period: 2024. 4. 1. (Mon) ~ 6. 28. (Fri) 15:00 (KST) *Application Deadline has been extended
    Cost: None

     

    Contest areas
    Area 1: Design projects in all areas realized within the past 5 years (Projects must be produced, launched, and open with users)
    Area 2: Research on design project realization methods (Realization methods: design mockups, various design prototypes, etc.)
    *All design supported mediums available (products, visuals, digital/multimedia, space/system, service/experience/social, etc.)

     

    Application qualifications

    - Designers (Planners) 

    *Planners are only eligible to submit in collaboration with a designer. Individual submissions are not accepted.

     

    Award Details

    A total of 27 teams will be selected and awarded a total of 144 million won in prize money, with multiple awards possible.

    Area 1: Design projects realized within the past 5 years
         - Main prizes: Grand prize - 1 winner (KRW 50 million)
         / Best of the Best- 3 winners (KRW 15 million each)
         / Honorable Mention - 6 winners (KRW 5 million each)
         / Finalist - 10 winners

         - Special Prizes: Citizen's Choice - 2 winners (KRW 3 million each)
         / Issue of the Year (Digital) Prize - 1 winner (KRW 5 million)

    What will the ‘sustainable’ tomorrow envisioned by the Seoul Design Award look like? Here are the award-winning works collected so far using the keywords nature, people, and society.

     

    Nature

    Projects designed to think about and gave solutions on what nature would look like if it were left as is without artificially altering it.

    ▶︎ ‘Let It Bee’, which dreams of coexistence with bees on the verge of extinction in the city

    ▶︎ Elephant World’, a village where elephants and people can coexist

    ▶︎ ‘Gardens in the Air - Neighbourhood lights’, an outdoor vertical park that uses water from air conditioner outdoor units to restore urban ecology 

     

    Society

    Design projects that bring together many minds, present creative solutions, and revitalize the community.

    ▶︎ ‘House of Dreams’, a community center that reborn an abandoned cave with the participation of residents and the idea of recycling waste.

    ▶︎ 'Angsila Oyster Scaffolding Pavilion’, A pavilion designed with recycled materials revitalized the stagnant Angsila industry.

    ▶︎ ‘Trashbusters’ designs a reusable container rental system and encourages people to participate in resource circulation.
     

    Humanity

    Design projects for the happiness, rights, and safety of all children who will lead the future.

    ▶︎ ‘Classroom Makeover for The Blind’, a multi-sensory experience classroom that helps children with visual impairment receive special early education.

    ▶︎ ‘JERRYCAN BAG’, a bag design project to prevent traffic accidents and carry water for children walking on dangerous roads.
