“Service design that supports safe operation and communication of hearing-impaired taxi drivers”

 

 

 

CO:ACTUS and SK Telecom jointly developed a mobile service that facilitates communication between hearing-impaired

taxi drivers and passengers and ensures safe driving. The taxi that operates with this service is ‘Goyohan M’. 

 

 

 

This project allows drivers and passengers to communicate through tablets installed in the front and back seats of the taxi.

‘Driving Assistance Solution’ was designed from the perspective of universal design to avoid inconvenience to passengers

while focusing on convenience and information accessibility for the hearing impaired.

By utilizing various functions, drivers can conveniently communicate without being disturbed while driving,

and passengers can safely use taxis to their destinations,

securing social trust in the safety of taxis driven by the hearing impaired.

 

 

 

As a result of continuous development of safe driving functions and a communication system between passengers

and drivers, as of June 2020, 93 people are working as taxi drivers.

Goyohan M has created quality jobs, increased work options for deaf people and increased income levels

 

 

Goyohan M, driven by the hearing-impaired, is a representative example of helping the disabled

to advance into society by applying mobile ICT technology and universal design.
